The latest version (0.11.0) of Geary mail has been announced by new maintainer Michael Gratton more than a year since the last release. After the retirement of the Yorba team Geary was forked by Elementary OS but the mainstream client saw no further development. Many Xenial users might have missed the email client with excellent integration on Ubuntu.
The latest version brings in several improvements and fixes. Search operators is:read, is:unread: is:starred are added. You can also use multiple of those. There are fixes around UI freeze, image display and a crash. Check out the release notes for more details. A brand new PPA is also in place.
Geary is a part of the Gnome project now.
To install the latest version of Geary on Ubuntu 14.04 and above, run:
$ sudo add-apt repository ppa:geary-team/releases $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install geary
Fedora RPMs can be found here.
