ORB & Superdeb: offline package installer bundle

ubuntu_logo_81x81Superdebs along with ORB (Open Runnable Bundle) Launcher provide a new way to install apps on disconnected Ubuntu systems. The idea is to package apps together in a bundle and deploy on demand from the bundle. ORB is the open format to package and distribute the applications. The Launcher installs the orb packages.

While the Superdebs are a collection of apps, individual apps are also available as portable ones.

  • apps start very fast
  • signed with PGP/RSA and distributed via TLS 1.2
  • compressed apps to reduce size
  • apps are portable
  • open and free specification
  • can be extended and ported to most Linux distros (32 or 64-bit)

Download the ORB Launcher from the website (linked below) and install it. The launcher can install any ORB package.

Features: 4.5/5
