Yarock is rocking me for a while. However, I like variety and was quite happy to find Lollypop, a fresh music player for the GNOME desktop environment. It’s still under development but can be tried out for testing. Lollypop is written in gtk3 and python.
- Plays mp3/4, ogg and flac.
- Genre/Artist/Cover browsing
- Party mode
- Replay gain
- Cover art downloader

Lollypop is available on Arch, OpenSUSE, Fedora and Debian. There is a gtk3 bug due to which installation is broken on Ubuntu (at the time of writing). Once the fix is in place with gtk 3.14, you can install Lollypop on Ubuntu using the following commands:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnumdk/gnuppa $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install lollypop
