Now it is possible to view and edit MS Office documents in Google Chrome offline using the Office Editing for Docs, Sheets, and Slides extension. Of course, it’s a long and poor choice for an extension name but the functionality is quite useful for users who have to deal with MS Office docs frequently whether they want it or not. The editing features are not as extensive as the MS Office suite yet but the supported features work well. The supported file types are: doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt. pptx. Once it is installed all of these types of files can be opened in Google Chrome offline or while browsing.
