Type less to copy, rename, move files

terminalEven with tab completion and case insensitivity, copying, moving or renaming files at a location far from your current directory on Linux can be a pain. In those situations, try the following:

$ cp /very/long/path/myfile{,.orig}
$ mv /very/long/path/{filea,fileb}

No space after comma within parenthesis. Being a shell feature, works for all commands of the format: command input output

        1. Thanks for the link but this is a Windows tool. This blog primarily deals with Linux. cp equivalent in Windows is copy as far as I remember. Anyway, it’s a good utility so I have approved the comment. 🙂
