The Perks of Being a Wallflower is, in a word – refreshing. Deals with too many complex subjects without getting too serious to get the audience bored. I liked the quick flashback scenes which actually change their meanings and turn quite bleak towards the end of the movie. At one point makes you feel one with the protagonist going through a difficult time due to the past traumas he faced and finally gives you the courage to feel “infinite”. This film should be nostalgic for viewers who were loners during their teens. While the Metascore doesn’t justify the quality of the movie I think the viewers’ rating in IMDB is appropriate. The film is not exactly groundbreaking as there had been many teenage trauma and romance movies in the same line. However, it surely adds a new dimension by adding a mix of relevant modern day issues. My rating is 8/10.
